About this resource

Before you begin, you may wish to try some of our other Body Percussion patterns using crotchets as a warm-up activity:

Patterns Using Crotchets 3

The Right Here, Right Now Body Percussion resource is taken from our ClassroomCollection

  • Listen to Right Here, Right Now by Fatboy Slim
  • Listen to Right Here, Right Now again, following the Playalong video for Body Percussion – ask the class to follow each part carefully to see what each one is doing
  • They should notice that each part plays at different times – sometimes with the two other parts, sometimes with another part and sometimes on its own
  • Divide the class into 3 groups, with give each group either the top line (knee taps), middle line (claps) or bottom line (foot stomps) of rhythms
  • Perform Right Here, Right Now with each group following their own part
  • Perform Right Here, Right Now again with each group now following a different part
  • Now ask each pupil to choose a part to follow and to make sure that they tap/clap or stomp in time with the beat.  When you shout ‘switch’ everyone should switch to a different part whilst trying to keep in time with the beat
  • If you would like to slow down the tempo, lower the speed of the playalong videos to 0.5 or 0.75 using the settings (small gear) at the bottom right hand side of the video
