Transitioning from primary to secondary music can present challenges. Secondary schools often receive students from many feeder primaries, and limited opportunities to share practice can result in inconsistent musical experiences and the need to ‘start from scratch’.
This project supports a continuous musical journey from primary through to secondary school. It helps students develop and build musical skills through practical and creative collaboration, using shared musical material across both phases.
The project is designed to be accessible for all teachers, from non-specialists to experienced practitioners. Teachers can select and adapt content to suit their students, resources, and timetable. As lesson time varies between schools, the project is flexible and can be paused and resumed at appropriate points.
