LearnToCompose – Module 1

Lesson 4 - Composing a Class Groove

About this resource

In this lesson, pupils work together to choose one shared rhythm to represent the whole class. Pupils will:

  • listen to and compare different rhythmic ideas
  • agree on a rhythm to use as a class groove
  • perform this groove together using a conductor’s cue

This lesson focuses on making musical decisions as a group and understanding how a single repeated idea can give a piece of music structure and identity.
