LearnToCompose is a whole-class composition project for primary pupils (ideal for Years 3–5 in the UK).
Across six lessons, pupils build confidence by exploring:
pulse (steady beat)
rhythm and ostinatos (repeating rhythms)
simple cues (signals) to start, stop and change the music
Pupils begin on untuned percussion, then some pupils add melody using one note (A) or one chord (A minor). The project ends with a short class performance.
