About this resource

Musical Café is a 6-lesson rhythm project for younger learners inspired by cafés, restaurants and food delivery apps. Through singing, body percussion, untuned percussion and composition activities, pupils explore pulse and rhythm using fun food-themed rhythm words across a variety of musical styles.

Activities throughout the project allow pupils to:

• Explore pulse and rhythm through singing and performance
• Perform rhythms using body percussion and untuned percussion
• Recognise crotchets, crotchet rests and quavers
• Create short rhythmic compositions using food rhythm words
• Develop listening, ensemble and performance confidence
