Performing using body percussion actions:

  • Maintaining a simple rhythmic part in time to the beat
  • Tap or clap the body percussion rhythms to the given video playalong (We Will Rock You)
  • Say the rhythms while counting 1 and 2 and etc
  • Count the beat aloud/in thinking voice when performing body percussion rhythms
  • Maintain a steady beat when performing body percussion rhythms
  • Link notation with body percussion rhythms

Performing with others:

  • Find/stay on (or re-find) the beat when performing along with others
  • Maintain rhythms when performing with others

Being a Musician:

  • Take turns as appropriate
  • Be respectful of others when turn-taking i.e. keeping still or silent. Listen carefully to the ideas of others
  • Be supportive, positive and constructive when working with others. Listen carefully to the sounds made
  • Consider the overall effect of sounds when arranged and combined
  • Reflect on own work and that of others
  • Identify targets for improvement

Recap F major

Remind yourself of the chord in the image below and try to match it.

To help recap the chord of F, try playing the chord to the audio track below:

  • Play the chord on beat 1 of every bar (1 rest rest rest)
  • Play the chord on every beat of every bar (1 2 3 4)
  • Call & response – with your teacher taking the lead, play the F backing track and copy the rhythms that your teacher plays
  • Alternatively, you could work in pairs. Can you copy the strumming pattern that your partner plays using the chord of F?

New Sensation INXS

Can you now try strumming the chords to music? Perform to the song New Sensation by INXS using the chord of F.

  • Follow the green highlight from left to right as it moves with the music
  • Strum/play the chords in time as best you can, matching the featured rhythms
