Project Overview

Your students have been hired as session drummers!

Over the course of 5 sessions, their task is to compose drum parts for 5 tracks, which will be part of a compilation album using ChairDrumming. In session 6, they will perform the album live in full. The artist has provided some guidelines for the students to follow when composing their grooves:

  • Each song must contain a drum groove from start to finish
  • Drum grooves must include crotchets
  • Some rhythms can include quavers if the students are confident
  • Performances must be in time with the music

Students will be composing and performing either as a class or in small groups, so it’s important for them to work together as a team.

Session Drumming

Where next?

A great collection to follow on from Session Drumming, is the Rhythmic Battle of the Bands!

Compete with your classmates and compose your own Body Percussion & ChairDrumming rhythms. You’ll work in bands over a series of lessons building up to a Battle of the Bands in your final lesson.
