Resources for Recorder Now Available in our LearnToPlay Collection

7 June 2023

We’re delighted to announce the introduction of a brand new instrument option within our LearnToPlay collection – the recorder!

Music education news this week has reported an 80% decline in the number of young people playing the recorder over the last 10 years  (The Guardian 5th June)  and while the recorder might be considered ‘marmite’ to some, we’re pleased to report that due to popular demand from many primary school teachers here in the UK, we have added a collection of LearnToPlay resources.

These resources allow teachers to dive into a set of guided practical lessons that provide everything needed to help their students to get started playing the recorder.

Our LearnToPlay resources provide whole-class music making opportunities scaffolded for popular classroom instruments including ukulele, guitar, keyboard, vocals, recorder and untuned percussion.  They help teachers to support their students to develop basic instrumental skills on a range of different instruments from rhythm patterns and note shapes to easy note progressions and playalongs to specially created feel-good backing tracks.

Focusing on one instrument group is the ideal way for teachers to engage their students in fun, authentic, whole class music-making using readily available classroom instruments.
